## What to photograph (the label decides most of it)

- The whole piece, front and side.
- The maker’s mark: inside the top drawer, on the back panel, under seats and tabletops, inside doors. It can be a paper label, an ink stamp, a burned-in brand or a metal tag. Lane pieces carry a stamped serial number that dates them.
- A drawer corner and the back — that shows solid wood or particleboard.
- Any damage: veneer chips, water rings, loose joints, torn upholstery.
- The way out: the floor it’s on, stairs, tight turns and the distance to the driveway — plus your ZIP and any deadline.

## Big pieces: tell me the stairs and the way out

A solid-oak armoire, a steel tanker desk, a marble-top table, a full dining set: tell me where it sits and how it would come out, and I’ll say honestly whether it’s something I can move. I have a dolly, straps, a trailer, and a forklift for suitable loads — none of that is a promise for a particular piece, and if a piece needs a crew I’ll say so up front instead of showing up to guess.

## When the furniture has to go

**Moving or a PCS.** Movers charge by weight, and the dresser may not fit the new place. ## Worth real money? Sell it yourself

Honest math: if you have one signature piece — a real Eames lounge chair, a full Heywood-Wakefield bedroom set, an Ernest Thompson dining set — and the time to sell it, sell it and keep the money.

- **A mid-century dealer.** Some buy from clear photos plus your asking range.
- **A consignment store.** It pays when the piece sells — ask about terms.

## What happens to it

I research the maker, clean it up and find it a buyer who wants that piece; afterward you get a [Reclaim Receipt](https://abqreclaimed.com/reclaim-receipt) saying where it went. The city of Albuquerque is my usual area. Rio Rancho, Corrales, Los Ranchos, Tijeras and the East Mountains are case by case, and Bernalillo, Placitas, Algodones, Los Lunas, Bosque Farms, Peralta, Belen and Edgewood are usually out of range — text a photo with your ZIP.

**Before you ask — the honest limits.** Abq Reclaimed is just me, and I run a couple of other small businesses. So free pickups are **limited and entirely at my discretion** — I can't take everything, and some weeks I can't do pickups at all. ### Who picks up antique or vintage furniture for free in Albuquerque?

### Is my old furniture worth anything?

Maker, material and condition matter more than age. Solid wood, dovetailed drawers, a known maker’s label and clean lines or good carving usually mean yes. Particleboard, heavy wear and pet or smoke damage usually mean no. Send a photo of the piece and its label and I’ll tell you honestly — and if it’s worth real money, I’ll tell you to sell it yourself.

### Where is the maker’s mark on old furniture?

Look inside the top drawer, on the back panel, under seats and tabletops, and inside doors. It can be a paper label, an ink stamp, a burned-in brand or a metal tag. Lane pieces carry a stamped serial number that dates them. Photograph the mark along with the whole piece.

### Do you pay for furniture?

No. It’s free pickup, not a buyer — I don’t pay cash.
