Pick what you're clearing out — tools, electronics, bikes, gear, appliances, furniture or clothes — and the shape it's in. You'll get an honest answer on where it goes: donate, scrap, or a free pickup by request.

1. What are you clearing out?

Pick the closest match.

2. What kind of shape is it in?

Be honest — it decides where it goes.

Rule of thumb: **when in doubt, don't throw it out.** Tools, electronics and gear are what I most want a photo of — working or not.

## How to think about it

Most of what gets thrown out in a clear-out still has a second life — usually it just needs to go to the right door. Here's the short version this tool is built on.

- **Tools, electronics, bikes and gear** — usable or fixable, they usually have resale value, and I pick them up free by request (electronics working or not).
- **Dead appliances and scrap metal** — I haul them free and reclaim the metal; if you'd rather be paid, a [scrap yard](https://abqreclaimed.com/where-to-sell-scrap-metal-albuquerque) weighs it and pays by the pound.
- **[Quality clothing & shoes](https://abqreclaimed.com/quality-clothing-shoes-pickup-albuquerque)** — brand-name, designer, outdoor, workwear, vintage & western, good leather boots and vintage wool blankets, in good, resellable condition. Send a photo of the labels and soles.
- **Vintage and quality furniture** — mid-century, antique, New Mexican carved and solid-wood pieces are a photo to me (include any maker’s mark).
- **Everyday clothes, housewares and ordinary furniture** — a charity drop-off or the City's Large Item Pick-Up is the right door; see [where to donate anything in Albuquerque](https://abqreclaimed.com/where-to-donate-albuquerque).

## Common questions

### What does Abq Reclaimed pick up free?

Resale-worthy goods, by photo request: tools, electronics (working or not), camping and outdoor gear, bikes, sporting goods, musical instruments, appliances, copper and scrap metal, vintage and quality furniture, and vintage and collectibles. Quality clothing and shoes too — brand-name, designer, outdoor, workwear, vintage and western, and good leather boots — in good, resellable condition.

### Do you pick up everyday clothes or linens?

No. I don't pick up worn-out or everyday clothes and shoes, underwear and socks, linens, towels, pet bedding or rags, and I don't do textile recycling. Wearable everyday clothes belong at a charity drop-off — [here's where](https://abqreclaimed.com/blog/where-to-donate-clothes-in-albuquerque). [Quality clothing and shoes](https://abqreclaimed.com/quality-clothing-shoes-pickup-albuquerque) in good, resellable condition (brand-name, designer, outdoor, workwear, vintage and western, good leather boots) are a different story: send a photo of the labels and the soles.

### Is a broken tool or dead electronic worth anything?

Often, yes. Dead electronics get stripped for parts and recycled, and fixable tools and gear often still have resale value or good parts, so send a photo with the brand and model. Rusted-out metal is worth more at a scrap yard, which pays by the pound.
