How to get rid of used stuff in Albuquerque

Sell it, donate it, or have it hauled free — here is how to decide in about a minute.

Albuquerque homes fill up with good, usable stuff: camping gear in the garage, tools in the shed, a bike nobody rides, electronics in a drawer. When it is time to clear it out, you have three honest options — sell it, donate it, or have it picked up. Here is how to choose fast, and keep almost all of it out of the landfill.

First question: is it worth your time to sell?

Selling it yourself pays the most but costs the most effort — photos, listings, messages, no-shows, and meetups. That is worth it for higher-value items: quality bikes, brand-name outdoor gear, working power tools, instruments, and current electronics. For those, local shops will often buy on the spot (see where to sell or donate used gear in Albuquerque), or you can list on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, or Nextdoor.

Not worth selling? Donate or hand it off.

If something is low value, bulky, or you just want it gone, selling is rarely worth the hassle. Donating keeps it in use: Habitat for Humanity ReStore takes tools, building materials, and appliances; bike nonprofits take cycles and parts; Goodwill and others take general goods. Our local directory lists the real spots with addresses and phone numbers.

Don't want to haul, price, or wait? Free pickup.

This is where Abq Reclaimed fits. I am a one-person, for-profit resale operation: tell me what you have, send a photo, and I will confirm what I can take and pick it up free — no hauling, no listing, no waiting for a buyer. I focus on resale-worthy goods: camping & outdoor gear, tools, bikes, sporting goods, instruments, and working electronics. See the full what-I-take list. It is not tax-deductible — I am not a charity — but it is the easy button.

What about the genuine junk?

Some things are not resale or donation material: dead electronics, broken furniture, true trash. That is fine. Route old electronics to free local e-waste recycling so nothing toxic hits the landfill, and for a whole-house clear-out, a junk-hauling or estate-sale company can handle whatever is left. I am glad to point you in the right direction.

The fast rule

High value and you have time, sell it. Low value or no time, donate it or book a free pickup. Broken, recycle it. Almost nothing actually needs the trash. Clearing a whole house or garage? Start with estate & garage cleanouts.
