How to think about it

- Wearable, clean items can be donated for resale (charity thrift stores) or picked up free from your door. Either keeps them in use.
- Worn, stained, or torn textiles can't be resold, but they can be recycled into insulation, padding, and industrial rags. Don't trash them — just route them to a service that sends textiles on for recycling.
- Only wet, moldy, or smoke-damaged textiles truly belong in the trash, because they contaminate everything they touch. Bag those separately so they don't ruin the rest.
