How free pickup works: text a photo, I confirm, I pick it up free
Abq Reclaimed is my free pickup in Albuquerque, by request. Moving, downsizing, clearing a parent's house or a garage full of tools? Text me a photo of the pile at (505) 250-3804. I tell you honestly what I can take — tools, electronics (working or not), camping gear, bikes, instruments, appliances, scrap metal, vintage finds, vintage and quality furniture, quality clothing and shoes — and who takes the rest. The honest catch: nothing is promised until I confirm, and some weeks I can't do pickups at all.
First, the honest part. I'm one person running several community projects, so free pickup is limited and entirely at my discretion — I can't take everything, and some weeks I can't do pickups at all. The surest way is to drop off — text me at (505) 250-3804 and we'll set up a time and place. If you do need a pickup, a photo or the form sends me a request (not a booking) and I'll reply honestly about whether I can fit it in. Here's how the pickup flow works:

What to expect, step by step
I built Abq Reclaimed for the moments when a lot of stuff has to go at once, or has to be out of the way by a date — a move, a PCS, a closing, downsizing, a parent's house, a remodel, a storage unit, a garage, workshop or shop. Here's exactly what happens after you text me.
1. You text me photos
Text a few photos to (505) 250-3804: wide shots of each room or pile, plus close-ups of brand labels and model plates on tools, electronics and appliances. Add your ZIP and any date you're working against (a closing, a move-out, a lease end). Don't sort first — photos of the mess are exactly what I need. Prefer a form? The pickup request form works too, and a photo still helps most.
2. I reply honestly
I read every request myself. I'll tell you what I take free (the resale-worthy share: tools, electronics working or not, camping and outdoor gear, bikes, sporting goods, instruments, appliances, scrap metal, collectibles, quality clothing and shoes), what a charity or the City's Large Item Pick-Up takes, and what needs a paid hauler. If none of it is a fit, I'll say so and point you to who takes it.
3. If it's a fit, we agree on a day around my routes
Pickup is a request at my discretion, not a booking, so it isn't instant. When it's a fit, we agree on a day that works around my routes. I have a dolly and a trailer, and a forklift for suitable loads, by arrangement — photo first. For small items, leaving them on a porch or in the driveway is fine and you don't need to be home; for heavy items or anything inside the house, someone needs to be there to let me in.
4. I pick up the resale-worthy share free
Resale-worthy goods get resold or reused; the rest is routed to recycling where I can, to keep it out of the landfill. There's never a charge. (Want the honest, behind-the-scenes version? Read my promise.)
5. I tell you where it went
This is the part no thrift store offers. After pickup, I send you a Reclaim Receipt — a short personal note naming where the main pieces ended up. No tax form (I'm a for-profit reseller, so pickups aren't tax-deductible); the truth about where your stuff went instead.
How soon will I come?
There's no fixed turnaround — pickup is by request, at my discretion, and fitted around my routes, so timing depends on where you are and how my week lines up. I read every request myself and reply to agree on a day that works. On a tight timeline — moving out, staging a home, clearing an estate? Tell me the date in your first text and I'll tell you honestly whether I can make it. Prefer not to wait on a route? You can drop off by appointment — just text me.
Is there a limit on how much I can give?
Big loads are welcome as requests — a garage or workshop full of tools and gear is what the trailer's for. I take the resale-worthy share free and tell you exactly who takes the rest, and I'll say honestly what fits in one trip. Worn-out or everyday clothes, underwear and socks, and linens aren't something I pick up — a charity drop-off is the place for those (where to donate in Albuquerque).
