I haul it free
I pick it up at no cost and give it a second life through resale and reuse.
Before you ask — the honest limits. Abq Reclaimed is just me, and I run a few community projects at once. So free pickups are limited and entirely at my discretion — I can't take everything, and some weeks I can't do pickups at all. Send a photo and I'll tell you honestly whether I can fit it in; if I can't, I'll point you elsewhere. (Prefer to drop off? We can sometimes arrange that by appointment.) When I do collect, a few days later I send you a Reclaim Receipt telling you where your stuff went.
What "collectible" actually means to me
Not just antiques. The things I most often reclaim are ordinary-looking objects that a specific buyer somewhere is actively searching for: a vintage shifter knob, an industrial contactor, an Inov-8 trail shoe, a leather-bound 1890s book set, a Dodgers cap from the right decade. If it was well-made, discontinued, or has a fan base, it's probably on this list.

- Books — good books are the one thing I'll happily buy through sellbooksabq.com (also me); antique sets, textbooks, and nonfiction are worth a photo before you box them for donation
Honest math, as always. If you've got one genuinely valuable piece and the time to list it, sell it yourself and keep the money — my where-to-sell guide shows where. I'm the right call for the box of mixed stuff, the collection nobody in the family wants to sort, or the "I just want it to go somewhere it'll be appreciated" pile. Free pickup by request; a photo gets you an honest answer.
What happens to it
I photograph, research, and list what has value; it goes to the collector, musician, sewist, or mechanic who's been looking for exactly that. Anything without a market gets recycled properly. Then you get a Reclaim Receipt — a note telling you where it actually went. That's the whole point of giving it to an expert instead of a bin.

Common questions
Do you pay for collectibles?
No — this is free pickup, not a buy service, so if something is clearly valuable, sell it yourself and keep the money. The exception is books: I buy those through sellbooksabq.com, which is also me. For everything else, what you get is the convenience, the expert placement, and a Reclaim Receipt showing where it went.
Does it need to work?
No. Vintage electronics, cameras, and machines are often worth more for parts than a working modern equivalent. Send a photo either way — "broken" is rarely a no in this category.
What about a whole collection — records, LEGO, a garage of vintage tools?
That is exactly the kind of request I want. Send a few photos and a rough size (boxes, shelves, a corner of the garage) and I will tell you honestly what I can take. Big or awkward loads are fine; I have a trailer and a forklift.
Is vintage clothing different from regular clothing?
Yes — it is the one clothing category with real resale value. Western boots, pearl-snap shirts, band tees, vintage denim, designer pieces, old team caps: send a photo. Everyday clean, wearable clothing is welcome too, but the vintage stuff is what I get excited about.
Is a pickup tax-deductible?
No — Abq Reclaimed is a for-profit reuse business, not a 501(c)(3), so pickups are not tax-deductible. You get a Reclaim Receipt (where it went), not a tax receipt.
